Tracking the Success of our Recycle Mobility Programme

It was a very special day for Variety Ireland and Minister Anne Rabbitte when we visited Derg Athletics Club in Killaloe Co Clare to present trikes to children so they can be included in cycling activities with their family and friends. Also on hand was Co Clare native Derinn Finnerty who through her own fundraising efforts managed to pay the cost towards one of the trikes presented on the day.

Supplying special mobility trikes to children with disabilities has been made possible as part of Recycle Mobility Programme which is supported by Minister Anne Rabbitte and The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and the kind support of wonderful people like Derinn.

According to a report published by Dr Jolanta Burke of the RCSI, Recycle Mobility Programme which provides funding for special mobility trikes for children with disabilities, can improve the mental and physical well-being of both the child and other family members by up to 87.5%. It also supports inclusion and equal access to cycling for children with disabilities across Ireland.

Let’s take a look at the happy smiley faces of children enjoying the experience of cycling. Like us at Variety Ireland and Minister Anne Rabbitte we are sure you will all agree, these beautiful children deserve it. This short video says it all.
