North Meets South for First Joint Disability Cycling Event

North Meets South for First Joint Disability Cycling Event

As part of Variety Ireland’s “All Ireland Disability Cycling Partnership” launched in December 2023, It was great to see our first 2 children’s disability cycling groups meet up for their first cycling activity last week in Dundalk, Co Louth.

Members from SNAP Disability Cycling Club from Co Armagh travelled to meet other children and their parents from Roche Emmets Disability Cycling Club from Co Louth where they met with members from Louth Disability Cycling Club for their first cycling event at St Helena’s Park in Dundalk. Our “All Ireland Disability Cycling Partnership” supplied special mobility trikes to both clubs so their children can be included in cycling activities together.  Our All Ireland Disability Cycling Partnership unites children’s disability groups both north and south of Ireland, while promoting reconciliation between families with children with disabilities across all communities both north and south of Ireland.
As our charity now extend the roll out this programme to other disability groups across counties both north and south of Ireland, it will ensure children with disabilities have equal access to cycling activities with other disability groups. Our “All Ireland Disability Cycling Partnership” is designed to break down barriers and unite children with disabilities from across various communities which promotes equality and integration for children with disabilities both north and south of Ireland, which is great for both their mental and physical well-being. A great cycling morning was had by all with children laughing and smiling as they cycled their bikes around the park.
We at Variety Ireland would like to extend a special thank you to Paul and all the crew at Louth Disability Cycling Partnership for looking after all the members of SNAP Disability Cycling Partnership and Roche Emmets Disability Cycling Group. We would like to wish all children and parents of both clubs many happy years of cycling together as they team up both sides of the border for great cycling days out together in the future.
