Family Cycling in Mayo

One of the many great things about our Recycle Mobility Programme is that it ensures access to cycling for children with mobility issues and other family members.

Our Recycle Mobility Programme, supported by Minister Hildegarde Naughton and The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, The Department of Transport and the HSE, provides children like Aidan with the opportunity to experience the joys of cycling with his family and friends.
In a report conducted by Dr Jolanta Burke from The RCSI, shows that cycling for children with disabilities improves the mental and physical well-being for both the child and extended family members by up to 87.5%. Now Aidan and other wonderful children like Aidan can get to be included in cycling activities with friends and family.
Here is a lovely note we received from Aidan’s mother expressing her thanks and gratitude for his new trike. Many happy years of cycling Aidan around Co Mayo and beyond from all of us here at Variety Ireland
“Dear Variety Ireland,
Thank you so much to Minister Hildegarde Naughton and The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and The Department of Transport as well as The HSE for providing funding for special mobility new trike so Aidan can experience the freedom of knowing what it is like to be on a bike. His condition does not allow him to cycle for himself but this bike supports inclusion so he can be included in cycling activities with other family members safely. Your Recycle Mobility Programme gives children like Aidan a level playing field to experience cycling and our new bike has opened up so many opportunities for Aidan and the family which is great for both our physical and mental wellbeing. Thank you so much.”
