Carne Group Help Provide Mobility to Respite Service

It was a special day for children at St Michael’s House Children’s Respite Services in Donabate, North County Dublin, when we paid a visit recently. Thanks to the help of the team at Carne Group, Variety Ireland were able to deliver one of our special mobility trikes to children at St Michael’s House so they can get the chance to be included in cycling activities while in respite at this service.
On hand to deliver the new special mobility trike on behalf of Carne Group, was Tadhg Lowe. Commenting on the new trike for St Michael’s Respite Services, Tadhg commented “ It’s fabulous to be here today and being able to see the smiles and laughter on the face of Katie seen test driving the new special mobility trike. Katie’s smile says it all and it’s great to be able to team up with Variety Ireland and provide a trike which we know will bring so much fun to children visiting St Michael’s House. Getting to see first-hand the wonderful and essential work all the staff at St Michael’s Respite Home in Donabate do in helping provide a service to parents in need of an important break is fabulous. This special mobility trike will be of both mental and physical benefit to all the children who use it and we at Carne Group are delighted to step in and help these wonderful children.”
Jonathan Power who heads up St Michael’s House Foundation said” This trike is going to be a real game changer for children and young adults visiting our respite home here in Donabate. It now allows the children to enjoy cycling activities which forms part of their daily exercise requirements. The fact they can be outside cycling means they are getting fresh air which is also good for their own well-being. Lots of children visiting St Michaels House now have their very own special mobility trike which means they can cycle in safety and have fun. We are extremely grateful to Tadhg and the team at Carne Group and Variety Ireland for making this possible.”
Variety Ireland’s “Recycle Mobility Programme” which is jointly supported by Minister’s Norma Foley and Minister Hildegard Naughton Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and Minister’s Darragh O’Brien and Minister Sean Canney from The Department of Transport provides vital financial support towards the cost of special mobility trikes. This ensures that children and young adults with additional needs have equal access to cycling. In a report by The Royal College of Surgeons Ireland shows that our Recycle Mobility Programme improves the physical and mental being of both the child and other family members up to 87.5%.
Here at Variety Ireland, we are always delighted when companies like Carne Group approach us to fund special mobility trikes which allows us to fund even more special mobility trikes, ensuring equal access to cycling for children with additional needs. We like to thank Tadhg and all at Carne Group for co-funding this trike for the wonderful children at St Michael’s respite home in Donabate, North County Dublin.
