The Power of Mobility

Here at Variety Ireland, we pride ourselves on being able to help children of all abilities, all across Ireland.

Recently we were able to help a young boy called Kyle, who has cerebral palsy. Through our Recycle Mobility Programme, we were able to help fund a motorised handbike for Kyle’s wheelchair. Just check out this amazing letter Kyle’s mum sent to us that describes the impact it has had on Kyle’s life!

“Dear Variety Ireland

I would like to thank Variety Ireland and Minister Anne Rabbitte for the very kind funding towards a Batec for our son’s wheelchair. Our 15 year old son Kyle has cerebral palsy which mainly affects his legs and overall strength. We live in Wicklow town which is very hilly meaning Kyle needs to be pushed in his wheelchair when out and about. Having the Batec add on turns his wheelchair into a power chair giving Kyle independence and allowing keep up with his two siblings. As he is also a typical teenager he also thinks he looks cool and I have to totally agree with him! This has opened up so many windows of opportunities for us as a family as it means we can do outdoor activities together as a family which is great for both all of our mental and physical well-being. Thanks again to Variety Ireland and Minister Rabbitte for all the vital work you do ensuring children like Kyle have the opportunity of experiencing cycling. It’s simply amazing!

Thank you so much!”
