New Cycling Opportunities for Lee in Wexford

Here at Variety Ireland, we love to see happy smiley faces on children we help. As a charity that addresses the needs of children and teenagers from across the disability spectrum, our Recycle Mobility Programme does just that. Thanks to the support of Minister Anne Rabbitte and Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Minister James Lawless and the team at The Department of Transport, we can ensure that we provide equal access to cycling for children and young adults with disabilities across Ireland.

This applies for Lee from Co Wexford who recently received his own special mobility trike, thanks to our Recycle Mobility Programme and previous Miss Wexford Cassie Gaynor, who fundraised money which contributed towards the cost of Lee’s new mobility trike. This now means that Lee can be included in cycling activities with his family and friends. Not only does this open up new cycling opportunities for Lee with his family and friends, but it also ensures he gets regular exercise which contributes to his and the family’s mental and physical well-being.

Here is a note and images we received from Lee’s mother showing how his new trike has is benefiting Lee and the whole family. On behalf of us all here at Variety Ireland, all the ministers who support our Recycle Mobility Programme and not forgetting the wonderful Cassie who worked hard to raise money for your trike, Many happy years of cycling Lee!

“Dear Variety Ireland,
I just want to say a massive thank you to all at Variety Ireland and Minister Anne Rabbitte, Minister James Lawless, and the brilliant Cassie for supplying a special mobility trike for Lee.
Lee has always wanted to be able to cycle with his sisters but is unable to cycle a regular bicycle. This trike has allowed him to enjoy outdoor activities with his sisters, which he loves.
This has really contributed to Lee’s mental and physical wellbeing, and without the funding from Variety Ireland and everyone who has helped, especially Cassie, we wouldn’t have been able to access a trike for him. We are truly grateful.
Thank you!”
Elaine (Lee’s mother)
