A Wheelie Kind Gesture by Google Team Ireland

Here at Variety Ireland, we love to see children with disabilities having the equal opportunity to cycle. In our Recycle Mobility Programme report carried by Dr Jolanta Burke of the RCSI, it shows that inclusion of cycling for children with disabilities can improve the mental and physical well-being of children and other families members by up to 87.5%. This allows children to take part in cycling activities with friends and family.

Thanks to the kind help Annie and her team members at Google Ireland, who held a cycling fundraising event which raised funds to help purchase a trike for a very special young man called Ollie from Co Wicklow. Thanks to their hard work and efforts, it now means that Ollie can enjoy cycling the greenways and parks in our fabulous county. It is a great achievement for the Google workers who took part in raising funds towards Ollie’s new trike as they actually get to see how money raised is being spent.
Thanks to the ongoing support of Minister Anne Rabbitte Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and Minister Eamon Ryan and Minister Jack Chambers from the Department of Transport, we at Variety Ireland are able to assist families with children with disabilities with funding towards the cost of a new trike for their child. The Google Team and all at Variety Ireland would like to wish Ollie and his family many happy years of cycling. Here is a lovely message we received from Ollie’s mum thanking us all for providing the opportunity of cycling for her beautiful son Ollie.
“Dear Variety Ireland team,
We would like thank all the team at Google who held their fundraiser to help provide funding towards the cost of Ollie’s new special mobility trike. This is a real game changer for our son and he simply loves it. It now means we can do lots more things as a family meaning Ollie has lots of opportunities to cycle with family and friends. Major credit has to go to all of you at Variety Ireland and  Minister’s Rabbitte and Eamon Ryan for operating such a great programme which is going to benefit so many families who can now do things they would have never have been able to do before. It’s great for all the family’s well-being both mental and physical. The video of our happy Ollie says it all. Thank you so much!”
