Cycling Together

Cycling is something that should be accessible for all family members. Here at Variety Ireland with special thanks to Minister Anne Rabbitte and all at The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, we are helping more and more families with children with disabilities so their children can have equal access to cycling activities. Our Recycle Mobility Programme helps to provide a variety of special mobility trikes and bikes to ensure children, regardless of their disability can get to experience the joys of cycling with friends and family.

Meet Peppy, she is a wonderful young lady who now has the opportunity to cycle along with her parents and other family members so they can all enjoy the beautiful highways and byways that our country has to offer. Not only does this help improve the mental and physical well-being of all family members, but it also opens up a lot of new opportunities for Peppy in seeing new places with a smile on her face. Here is a letter the charity received telling us of the many benefits Peppy’s new tandem bike has for her and the family.

“Dear Variety Ireland

We would like to take this opportunity to express our deep and sincere gratitude to both Minister Anne Rabbitte and yourselves for the privilege to have obtained a tandem bike for our daughter.

Our youngest child, Peppy, who is 15, for whom we got the bicycle, has been relishing each and every occasion that we have used the tandem.

Cycling certainly gives Peppy great exercise but more importantly, it’s great fun. It aids Peppy tremendously with her physical well being. She smiles so much during each cycle. Her eyes smile as well. It has been and is so good for her mental health. It really gives her a lift and might I add that it gives the whole family a lift as we can all go out together now. Without your financial assistance we could not do this as a family. So, again, we would like to express our gratitude to Minister Rabitte and Variety Ireland.
