Cycling Together in Waterford

It’s fabulous when children with additional needs have the opportunity to be included in cycling activities with their family and friends.

Say a big hello to Lily from Co Waterford, who has been in contact with us to share some photos and videos of her enjoying her bike.
Lily received her special mobility trike as part of our Recycle Mobility Programme, which offers subsistence funding towards the cost of special mobility trikes.
Thanks to the support of Minister Hildegarde Naughton from The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, and Minister Sean Canney from The Department of Transport, who support our Recycle Mobility Programme. We are able to ensure wonderful children like Lily has equal access to cycling.
Not only does our Recycle Mobility Programme ensure equal access to cycling for children with additional needs, but according to a report conducted by the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, it improves both the mental and physical well-being of the child and immediate family members up to 87.5%.
On behalf of us here at Variety Ireland and the ministers and their departments, Many happy years of cycling Lily!

“Dear Variety Ireland,
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for helping us to get Lily her trike. It’s made such a huge difference to her. She’s loving going for cycles with her brother and being able to cycle along side him.
Lily is also improving her stamina and strength which will benefit her everyday.
Thank you so much!
Kind regards,”
Emily (Lily’s mother)
