Clare He Goes On His New Trike!

It’s great fun to see young people out and about on their bikes. What’s even better is to see children who may need that little bit of extra support and assistance to help them enjoy cycling safely, exploring on their bikes and trikes with family and friends! Meet Joey from Co Clare who recently received his brand-new special mobility trike from Variety Ireland as part of Recycle Mobility Programme.

Thanks to the support of Minister Anne Rabbitte and The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth along with Minister Jack Chambers and Minister Eamon Ryan from The Department of Transport for supporting our programme, we can continue to help children with disabilities with their cycling needs across Ireland.

This ensures these wonderful children be included in cycling actives with their family and friends while allowing them to explore the new greenways and byways of Ireland.

Here is a note and video we received from Joey’s mother telling us how his new trike has opened a  whole new world for this great young man. On behalf of us here at Variety Ireland and all the ministers and departments who support our Recycle Mobility Programme, many happy years of cycling Joey!

“Dear Variety Ireland,
This is a quick note and video to say a massive thank you to your charity and all the ministers involved in supporting your Recycle Mobility Programme.
It’s a wonderful and much needed initiative that allows children regardless of their ability to be included in cycling activities with their family and friends. It’s fully inclusive and presents children with equal opportunities and inclusion in cycling. The fact that it contributes to the overall mental and physical wellbeing of all the family means it unites families in a very special way.
On behalf of Joey and all the family, thank you once again for this wonderful, life changing opportunity!”
