Trike Provides Daily Physio in Co Kildare

Inclusion and equal access to cycling for children with disabilities are just some important parts of our Recycle Mobility Programme. Thanks to the support of Minister Anne Rabbitte and The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth along with Minister James Lawless and Minister Eamon Ryan from The Department of Transport who support our programme, we continue to help children with disabilities with their cycling needs across Ireland.

Meet Bobby from Co Kildare. This young man recently received his new set of wheels which allows him now to take part in cycling activities with his family and friends. Research conducted by Dr. Jolanta Burke from the RCSI shows our Recycle Mobility Programme can increase the mental and physical well-being of both the child and family members by up to 87.5%. Here is a note an d video we received from Bobby’s father, letting us know the positive impact his new trike is having for this happy young man. On behalf of us here at Variety Ireland and all the ministers and departments who support our Recycle Mobility Programme, many happy years of cycling Bobby!

“Dear Variety Ireland,
I just want to say a huge Thank You to Minister Rabbitte and Minister Lawless and Variety Ireland for providing vital support towards the cost of Bobby’s Trike. To sum it up, he simply loves it and has opened up a whole new world of safe cycling where it has given him great independence. This trike plays a major role with his required  daily physio schedule so it’s a win win for everyone. Your Recycle Mobility Programme is essential and great for helping families with children with disabilities with their cycling requirements.
We done and thank you so much!”
Stephen (Bobby’s Dad)
