Cycling Adventures for Dylan in Dublin

Special mobility trikes support equal access to cycling and family inclusion for children with disabilities. Our Recycle Mobility Programme provides help to families with children with disabilities in Ireland so their children can be included in cycling activities with their family and friends. Thanks to the support of Minister Anne Rabbitte Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth along with Minister James Lawless and the team at The Department of Transport and sponsors, we are ensuring that all children regardless of their ability have equal access to cycling through our Recycle Mobility Programme.

Meet Dylan from North Dublin who recently received his very own special mobility trike with the kind support of The TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation. This now means that Dylan can finally be included in cycling activities with friends and family members. His new special mobility trike contributes to improving Dylan and other family member’s mental and physical well-being by up to 87.5% ( Source RCSI Recycle Mobility Programme report 2022).

Here is a note and some video footage we received from Dylan’s mother, showing this champion enjoying his new special mobility trike. The smile on Dylan’s face says it all and behalf of all at The TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation, us here at Variety Ireland along with the Ministers who support our Recycle Mobility Programme, many happy years of cycling Dylan!!

“Dear Variety Ireland,
It is with extreme pleasure and delight that we write these words of Thank You for providing our son Dylan  with his brand new Trike. We would like to extend our thanks to TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation, Minister Anne Rabbitte The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Minister Jack Chambers and Minister Eamon Ryan and The Department of Transport for providing Dylan with the incommensurable chance to really enjoy an activity that he loves so much and that helps him also to build on his strengths. As you can see from the attached video and photos, he is delighted to be able to enjoy cycling alongside his family and this is only made possible through your combined efforts and generosity. Putting a smile on his face and also ensuring he can be included in cycling activities with his family is so important and your Recycle Mobility Programme is essential for other families with children with disabilities in Ireland.
We are grateful for the opportunities that are now available to our son Dylan when it comes to exploring outdoors through an activity that he so much enjoys.
With thanks!”
