Like everyone, Variety Ireland want to do what we can to help people fleeing the conflict in Ukraine. So when we heard about a small school in Co. Kerry who had just welcomed some new pupils, we were more than willing to do what we could to help these children.
The school writes:
“Dear Variety Ireland
We would like to express our dearest thanks and appreciation to you and all of your team for supplying us with iPads to help children in our school.
We contacted the charity Variety Ireland with a big plea. We were looking for iPads to help us to better teach and communicate with the Ukrainian children that arrived in our school.
We are a two teacher rural school that before the Ukraine children arrived, only had 37 pupils, and in a matter of days we had 60 pupils.
We had limited resources but we wanted to be able to help these children as best we could but we soon realised we needed help and resources to do this. After contacting Variety Ireland they agreed to help us immediately.
By sending us iPads we are able to give the pupils work in their own language and able to communicate through the use of the iPads.
These children have been through a difficult time leaving their own country, family and friends. We wanted to help them to settle into our school as best we could and with the help of Variety Ireland we have been able to do this.
Thank you so much to Variety Ireland for being there for us and the children in our school. Amazing work by an amazing children’s charity.“
