Red Hurley Award

On 23rd November 2014, Variety – the Children’s Charity of Ireland were proud to honour legendary Irish singer Red Hurley at a Celebrity Luncheon in the Grand Hotel, Malahide. In attendance was the Lord Mayor of Dublin Christy Burke, Pete St. John, Sonny Knowles

and many other famous personalities from the entertainment industry who were there to support Red and his family.

Guests at yesterday’s sold out event enjoyed a four course lunch, followed by a world class show produced by Helen Jordan.  Young pupils from Helen’s School of Dancing opened the show with the Variety song followed by Red’s daughter Stephanie Hurley.  Kamal who did MC for the day then introduced Barry Murphy (Après Match), singer Mary Byrne and comedian Sil Fox and finally Tony Kenny performed his Jolson medley.

Following a heartfelt introduction by Joe Duffy, Red Hurley was presented with the Variety Gold Heart Award by Variety’s Chief Barker, Doreen Smyth after which he wowed the crowd with his magical voice.

Variety – the Children’s Charity of Ireland is a voluntary organisation that has been providing Sunshine Coaches, Wheelchair Swings, fun days out and Mobility Equipment to sick, disabled and disadvantaged children across Ireland since 1951.
